The Community of Saint Benedict
The Call To The Monastic Life
|
From the depths of the human condition a secret aspiration rises up. Caught up in the anonymous rhythms of schedules and time tables of daily life, men and women and especially young people of today are thirsting for an inner spiritual life. This search for a greater union with God leads some to a dedicated and consecrated life of the monastery. Does a life of prayer, work and charisms attract you? Do you have special talents that you would like to dedicate to God’s service?
How can you do this? How can you become a member of our community? We ask you to simply email or write to us. Tell us of your interests, your life, and tell us why you feel God is calling you to commit your life to prayer and contemplation. We are a new community and we are seeking new members to help us build a new foundation dedicated to God through a life modeled after the Rule Of Saint Benedict, the Gospels and living the Beatitudes. Would you like to help us in forming this religious community? Jesus invites us to take up our cross and to follow him. As you have read throughout our web pages we invite you to, COME FOLLOW JESUS WITH US !

"Listen my son to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart " From the Rule of St. Benedict |
Our Consecrated life is guided and inspired by the life and rule of Saint Benedict. Saint Benedict is known as the father and founder of Western Monasticism as we know it today. Our House is known as a Monastery, we are a foundation of the American Independent Congregation of Benedictines. As an Independent Congregation of Benedictines our community being a Roman Catholic Order , respects the authority of the Holy Father and follow the guildlines as outlined by the Congregation Of Religious Foundations. This is in compliance with the outline of the consecrated life the Catholic Church teaches. As part of the historical monastic tradition of the Rule and Councils of Saint Benedict, we are not subject to the authority of Rome as we are a non-canonical order. Thus, we are not subject to any local bishop or ordinary. In an ecumenical openness of heart, we follow the traditions and faith handed down to us through the Gospels and the early Church Fathers.
